Contact with my children has been stopped, what can I do?

Sadly, children often become embroiled in disputes between parents, particularly if the separation is particularly bitter.  Children can also sometimes be used as pawns, with contact being withheld from the absent parent out of spite or malice.

If your contact with your child or children has been stopped, and your ex is refusing to reinstate it, there are options available to you, all is not lost. In trying to resolve contact disputes communication is key, but not always possible, so what can you do if you are getting nowhere with your ex, and the weeks are passing with you having had no contact with your child?

The next step for you to take would be to consult a specialist family solicitor, to discuss matters further and to obtain advice that is specific to your own set of circumstances. Several options will be provided, such as attempting mediation, solicitor lead negotiation to try and resolve the matter, or if all other options have been exhausted, instigating court proceedings.

Do not delay in obtaining advice, as if you sit on the matter due to fear of rocking the apple cart, questions may be raised as to why you did not do more to resolve the situation, to see your children sooner.
